Luciano regrets the wasted opportunity and explains what was missing in the defeat of San Paolo

The number 10 wasted a great opportunity to give the Tricolore another goal and take home the victory

Luciano lamented San Paolo’s defeat against Atlético-MG and explained what was needed for the Tricolor to start with the three points. In a match played at Mineirão, in the 37th round of the Brasileirão, Dorival Júnior’s team was defeated 2-1: for the number 10, ‘lack of attention’.

Even though San Paolo pressed and finished more, the attacker wasted one of the best scoring opportunities in the second half. Just over a minute later, Hulk opened the scoring for Galo. Even though Luciano tried to redeem himself with the converted penalty, Paulinho scored the second goal for the Minas Gerais team and guaranteed the victory for the team.

– It’s a difficult defeat, we created more, everyone saw it. I had a clear chance and I blew it, then I ended up scoring. It’s an unfair defeat, if we had paid a little more attention we could have won. For me it is an important goal, on a special date, but which I would exchange for victory – said Luciano.

Regarding this ‘special date’, Luciano refers to the milestone of 200 matches with the San Paolo shirt, reached in Saturday’s match (2).

Now, even if they don’t fight for anything else in the competition, the Tricolor will say goodbye to the Brazilian championship next week. On Wednesday (6), they will face Flamengo at Morumbi in the last match of the year.
