We have to admit that in terms of villains, Game of Thrones hit hard. Who is the most hated character in the series? A few candidates come to mind. After all, HBO’s flagship series is known for its world and ruthless characters, be they sly, scheming or just plain evil.
So it’s no surprise that the GOT character (as he’s nicknamed) was named the most hated TV series character of all time in a poll conducted by online voting site Ranker. But he’s not the only one: the show takes the podium by naming three of his characters at number one – and not only…
- ‘I’m in the picture and I’ll take you’: the legendary scene from Game of Thrones that Bruce Willis almost destroyed?
The survey, updated on December 2nd, revealed the voting results of approximately 33,100 users (at the time of writing). And no, the ruthless Night King is not one of the 160 ranked characters. In the first place we meet Joffrey Baratheon (Jack Gleeson). He is followed by Ramsay Bolton (Ivan Rheon), then Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey), who takes third place.
They are not just…
Of course, other characters from the show make an appearance in the rankings: Petyr “Little Tinker” Baelish (Aidan Gillen) comes in at number 12, followed by Roose Bolton (Michael McElhatton) – who betrayed the Starks during the Red Wedding – at number 15. However, a character doesn’t have to be a “bad guy” to be hated, as seen with Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) coming in at number 50!
- Game of Thrones: Jon Snow corrupts a policeman to avoid a fine
Among other series that are most represented in this ranking, we find Walking Dead and Breaking Bad with The Governor (4th), Ed Pelletier (10th), Laurie Grimes (20th), Shane Walsh (34th), Andrea (45th e), Negan (68th) and Merle Dixon (85th) for first and Todd Alquist (6th), Skyler White (22nd), Marie Schrader (32nd) and Gustavo Fring (154th) for second.
Still among the most hated, we can also cite Rachel Berry and Will Schuester from Glee (8th and 11th), Dawson Leary from Dawson (24), Emily, Janice and Monica from Friends (26, 114 and 160) or Even Ted Mosby. From How I Met Your Mother (55th).
All of these numbers are subject to change as voting is still open. However, they are current at the time of writing these lines.
