So it was with great interest that we learned that the Brit loved Watchmen, the Zack Snyder feature film that is about to be remade.
Christopher Nolan’s love-cry for Watchmen comes from The Hollywood Reporter’s profile of Zack Snyder’s soon-to-be-influenced Netflix hit Rebel Moon: Part 1 – Child of Fire .
“I always thought Watchmen was ahead of its time.”Nolan says In an email to the Hollywood Reporter. “This idea of a superhero team that was brilliantly subverted here had never existed in the movies before. It would be fascinating after Watchmen comes out. The Avengers.”
Released in theaters in 2009, Watchmen, the big screen adaptation of the graphic novel by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons, follows a group of superheroes who fight crime in America at the end of the world.
Vulnerable, human, imperfect, they have as many qualities as flaws and for the most part show their dark side, a mixture of cruelty and selfishness.
If Watchmen disappointed at the box office with $185 million on a $120 million budget, this visual work, which many thought was impossible to bring to the screen due to its XXL ambitions (Terry Gilliam and Darren Aronofsky cut their teeth. Years ago), is today crowned with a beautiful cult status.
Christopher Nolan produced three Zack Snyder films: Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the two men are very close to the idea of calling each other once a month.
