Will Smith confirmed that he will live again Robert Neville following I’m the Legendwhich is currently being produced and will feature Michael B. Jordan (black Panther) in the cast. The actor confirmed that the new film will change the ending of the 2007 film, in which the protagonist saves himself.
“You have to be a true fan of I’m the Legend to know that, but, at first, in the theatrical version, my character dies. However, on the DVD, there is an alternative version of the ending in which my character survives.”Smith told Variety during the Red Sea International Film Festival, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
“We’re going to follow the mythology of the DVD version. I can’t say much more, but Michael B. Jordan is in.”, the actor said, confirming his colleague’s participation. During the chat, Smith also revealed that the script “just finished”so they are very close to starting filming the feature.
I’m the Legend follows the sole survivor of a pandemic that has wiped out life on Earth, leaving him to face deadly infected in the ruins of New York. The story of the sequel will take place many years after the events of the first film, as confirmed by the screenwriter Akiva Goldsmith (The Da Vinci Code) to the deadlinein February this year.
“That [segundo filme] will begin a few decades after the first. I’m obsessed with The Last of Usin which we the world right after the apocalypse, but also after a period of 20, 30 years”said. “You see how Earth reclaims the world for itself, and there’s something beautiful about the question of, as man stops being the primary tenant, what happens? The screenwriter also stated that the new film will once again be based on the book by Richard Mathesonwhich gave rise to I’m the Legend: “What Matheson was talking about was that man’s time on the planet as the dominant species had come to an end. It’s a very interesting thing that we’re going to explore. There will be a little more fidelity to the original text.”he declared.
