The title of the film is The Apprentice, a reference to the NBC reality series hosted by Donald Trump. It is directed by Ali Abbasi, who is known for his powerful thriller Mashhad Nights in 2022.
Gabriel Sherman is the author of the screenplay. The screenwriter notably wrote a biography of Fox News founder Roger Ailes. The work became the basis for the miniseries The Loudest Voice, in which Russell Crowe plays the main role.
The story is described as “A quest for power and ambition that unfolds in a world of corruption and deceit”. The story will paint a portrait of Donald Trump in the 70s and 80s against the background of his real estate deals in New York.
The film will also explore his relationship with his first wife, Ivana Trump, played by Maria Bakalova (Guardians of the Galaxy 3). Legacy hero Jeremy Strong will be donning the suit of Trump lawyer Roy Cohn.
