Botafogo are firmly out of the Brazilian title race, but are still trying to qualify for the group stage of the Libertadores. After all, after ten games without a win this year, Alvinegro has dropped to fifth place in the table, with 62 points, and if they finish in that position, they would advance to the preliminary stage of the competition. Botafogo therefore still has the hope of entering the Libertadores group next year. Especially because, in the eventual need to break the constraint in the criteria, this would be advantageous.
