On November 7th, Nintendo confirmed a long-running rumor: The Legend of Zelda video game is officially getting its movie rights! After Super Mario, the Kyoto company’s second most popular license will be brought to life on the big screen to the delight of fans.
However, the latter were relatively cautious about Big N’s artistic choices. In partnership with Sony Pictures, Nintendo plans to make a live-action feature film. There is no Zelda in Miyazaki-style animation, as many fans of the video game saga would like.
This craze was started 7 years ago by a certain Matt Vince. The latter created a fake trailer that mixes the world of the famous Japanese filmmaker with the world of Zelda. Wes Ball is currently developing the Zelda script with Derek Connolly (Jurassic World) and is working on post-production on Planet of the Apes: The New Kingdom (in theaters May 22).
In addition, the director also mentioned one of his tweets dating back to 2010, in which he said he dreamed of doing an Avatar-style adaptation of Zelda.

If Wes Ball manages to conjure up a Zelda that blends the fantasy of Miyazaki’s films with the epic breath of Avatar, it’s possible that the movie will truly live up to the video games. But you will have to be very patient before you bring your idea to the big screen.
