Released directly on the Disney+ streaming platform, the Pixar studio films Soul, Luca and Red Alert will finally hit US theaters in early 2024. The studio states in a press release that this will allow the public to “Experience 3 Pixar movies as they were meant to be seen“.
After theaters closed due to COVID-19, Disney chose to bypass theaters and release three Pixar films in a row — Soul in 2020, Luca in 2021 and Red Alert in 2022 — directly on Disney+. Today, with Disney in disarray and CEO Bob Iger admitting the company’s challenges are greater than previously thought, the studio appears to be pulling back. That’s why Disney is releasing 3 original Pixar movies in theaters that are appreciated by the public and critics.
Thus, Pete Docter and Kemp Powers’ Soul will hit US theaters on January 12th, Red Alert by Domee Shi will hit the big screen on February 9th, and Luca by Enrico Casarosa will be available on March 22nd. According to tradition, each film will be accompanied by a short film.

And in France?
When contacted by us, Disney France is currently exploring legal options to determine whether media timelines allow it to broadcast these films in theaters while they are still on Disney+.
The next Pixar feature to hit French cinemas will be Vice-Versa 2 on June 19, 2024. The highly-anticipated sequel to the 2015 film reveals a whole new set of emotions, including the angst found in the first teaser of the feature film.
Directed by Kelsey Mann, the film will allow us to find Riley, who is now a teenager. This will lead to major turmoil in the headquarters, which must face something unexpected: the arrival of new emotions! Joy, sadness, anger, fear and disgust – which have worked successfully for a long time – do not really know how to behave when anxiety comes. And it seems he’s not the only one…
