“If you want to make an adventure film, the film must be an adventure”Thomas Bydegin tells us when we meet him to talk about sudden loneliness. And this is not to say that this faithful collaborator of Jacques Audiard, the co-writer of “The Prophet, Rust and Bones” or Deepan, served as a director for the second feature film.

Eight years after Les Cowboys saw a father (Francois Damiens) set off in search of his daughter, suddenly the action is alone on a wild island. One that the pair find themselves stuck on during their solo world tour as winter approaches.

Jake Gyllenhaal and Vanessa Kirby were once considered for the lead roles, which were eventually cast by Gilles Lelouch and Melanie Thierry.

And Thomas Bideghin returns with us to different aspects of the feature film, adapted from Isabel Autisse’s bestseller. Its relevance to current society (“What better way to talk about the world than to talk about survival?”) dealing with the necessarily special and unpredictable conditions of the shoot, amid sometimes violent elements, including bringing the island to life on screen, he discusses some of the challenges of this second film as a director.

Before I briefly mention Emilia Perez, Jacques Audiard’s next feature film, which he wrote with her. And which will definitely be a musical comedy in Spanish with Selena Gomez and Zoe Saldana.
