Wellington Rato extends his contract with Tricolor until the end of 2026
Sao Paulo announced on Thursday (7) the extension of Wellington Rato’s contract until the end of 2026. In a video published on social media, Tricolor celebrated the contract extension and took the opportunity to provoke Corinthians, rivals in the semi-final of the Brazilian Cup.
– Rato cuts to the left and scores – the San Paolo team writes in the post, in clear allusion to the goal scored by Rato against Timão, at the Morumbi stadium, in the semi-final of the Copa do Brasil.
The 31-year-old attacking midfielder, who arrived at the club this season, had a contract until 2025. However, according to information from GE, the extension was a way found by San Paolo to reward the performance of Rato, who remained at the Tricolore despite the interest of Japanese football.
– I am very happy with this renovation. Playing for San Paolo is a dream come true, as I said when I arrived at the club. This was the year of my declaration and we were crowned with the title. And may 2024 be even better for us and our fans – celebrated the number 27.
In 2023 the player played 63 games with the Italian shirt, contributing five goals and ten assists
