A 41-year-old man suspected of rape has been granted bail, sparking outrage

The report was published on Thursday in the case of a 41-year-old photographer suspected of raping a 17-year-old teenager in Santa Maria (7). According to the victim’s lawyer, Renata Quartiero, the report shows that the rape was completed. Despite the seriousness of the crime, the Court accepted his request for provisional release on Wednesday (6).

The teenager’s parents released a statement on Wednesday and two more people were called to testify this Thursday. The victim’s lawyer expressed feelings of disappointment, revolt and indignation at the decision to release the suspect to answer the trial in freedom.

The Santa Maria Child and Adolescent Protection Police Department (DPCA) is investigating the case. Delegate Luiza Sousa informed that the investigation must be completed within 10 days and sent to the Judiciary. In addition to the statements, the images from the security cameras present on site are being analysed.

In addition to this case, another young woman reported being molested by the same photographer when she was 15 years old. According to Delegate Sousa, other reports have begun to emerge, although they have not yet been formalized in the incident logs. Possible victims are advised to file a report and contact the police station.

The case dates back to Monday night (4), when the photographer was arrested red-handed on charges of raping the 17-year-old teenager in a church in the western region of Santa Maria. The suspect provided services on site and was not a member of the institution.
