After his poor performances in 2023, Matheus Bidu is expected to lose space at Corinthians

Left back Matheus Bidu is a name that is expected to miss out on Corinthians in 2024. The player has underperformed this year and the tendency is for him to suffer from strong competition in the sector from next season onwards.

Fábio Santos, Corinthians starter for the whole of 2023, will retire from football. On the other hand, the club already has everything in place with left back Hugo, who was at Goiás.

Hugo, however, does not come to Timão with the status of office holder. Therefore, it is likely that the club will hire a new left back to arrive and play. Matias Viña, for example, was proposed and approved by the technical committee, but the deal is considered complex due to the figures that would be at stake.

In addition to the likely competition, Bidu’s performance did not satisfy the current technical committee and the new board of directors of the club. The report of Gazzetta dello Sport found that the club chose to no longer acquire any economic rights from the athlete.

Timão would be obliged to purchase another 50% of Bidu’s rights if he completed a certain number of matches in the season, which did not happen. The purchase therefore became optional and the club decided to keep only the 20% acquired in the initial negotiation with Guarani.

Bidu’s contract with Corinthians is valid until the end of 2025.
