Look at the Willy Wonka sweets that already exist in the real world


Some need to be improved, others already exist and make your mouth water




The delicacies of movie “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”, by Roald Dahl, are a dream come true for many dessert lovers. But, to the delight of many, some of these delights already exist in real life.

Lickable wallpaper

One of the first delights children experience in Willy Wonka’s factory is lickable wallpaper. Professor Alan Chalmers, of the University of Reading, says it would be quite simple to make. Simply incorporate food-safe chemicals into the wallpaper for each of your desired flavor components.

Although not a candy, in 2010, chef Heston Blumenthal created a real-life version of lickable wallpaper in his television series Heston’s Feasts.

He extracted the flavors from the shrimp cocktail using different techniques to create a mass of flavors that could be applied to the wall. Their guests were then invited to lick the colorful shapes to enjoy the food.

chocolate waterfall

The waterfall chocolate it is one of the most iconic images of Wonka’s factory. In 2012, the Alton Towers theme park in England built a four-ton replica of the candy waterfall.

The tower included a chocolate waterfall from which 70,000 liters flowed every hour.

However, actual chocolate waterfalls would not be of much use in a factory, as the chocolate must be mixed with additional fats to flow freely at lower temperatures.

Chocolate television

Wonka’s most recent invention is television chocolate. OR chocolatier Independent uses cameras to beam a giant chocolate bar from one end of the room to the television screen at the other.

WIlly is then able to reach into the screen and pull out an edible, perfectly composed Wonka bar.

Although technology doesn’t allow you to remove food from the screen, there are now techniques that allow you to enjoy it. Japanese researchers at Meiji University have developed Taste the TV (TTTV) which allows you to lick the screen and savor what is being shown.

The device contains a carousel of 10 cans of flavors that are sprayed onto a roll of toilet paper placed on the screen. These flavors are combined to produce food flavors such as milk chocolate or pizza.

Wonka’s sugar balloons are another gem that already exists in real life. They are made of a sugar dough that can be blown into any shape. You balloons they are then covered with a layer of chocolate or other flavor.

The edible candy balloon first appeared in 2014, when fine-dining restaurant Alinea included it in its $210 tasting menu. The balloons were completely edible, including the strand of dried green apples.

Since then, these treats have left high-end restaurant menus and become a popular holiday snack.

Eraser

Wonka’s multi-flavored gum isn’t ready yet, but it could be on the way soon. The challenge is to get each flavor released one after the other.

Professor Dave Hart, of the Norwich Institute of Food Research, says he has found a way to make this a reality. Using nanotechnology, he says it would be possible to create aromatic nanocapsules that would be released at different times.

The tomato soup capsule would break down upon contact with saliva, followed by the roast beef and blueberry pie into stronger structures, providing a sequential burst of flavor as you chew harder.

So, even if it’s not ready now, one day children of the future will be able to chew gum in three different flavors.
