But the project struggled to materialize, to the point that a few years later a pilot for Axel Foley’s son was shot, but failed to convince CBS despite Eddie Murphy’s eye-catching appearance.

This new failure revives the idea of ​​a fourth installment in the cinema, and in 2016 Belgian directors Adil El Arbi and Bilal Falla (Bad Boys for Life) were announced as the directors of the feature film.

Shortly after filming the sequel to his cult comedy A Prince in New York, Eddie Murphy announced the imminent production of Beverly Hills Cop 4, which Netflix has acquired the broadcast rights to. Filming finally begins in August 2022, with director Marc Molloy at the helm.
