Planet of the Apes 4: the new trilogy will take place 300 years after Caesar

Contrary to what some may have thought, Planet of the Apes 4: Reign will not continue the story of the franchise after its last film, War (2017) – at least not immediately after the events of the film. According to information from Empire magazine, the sequel will be set 300 years after production, indicating a new era for primates, far from the phase of the revolutionary Caesar (Andy Serkis).

Starting a new chapter in the apes’ trajectory, the sequel will star Kevin Durand as Proximus Caesar, the franchise’s new villain, and Owen Teague as Noa, the new good guy responsible for resurrecting Caesar’s ideology and building new leadership.

Part of your journey is discovering this legacy and its different interpretations. Noa needs to understand what all this means. Caesar is almost a religious figure and Proximus got this name because he held the highest position in ape society. It was a self-proclamation for the apes to continue evolving. So you’re seeing the influence and evolution of what Caesar left behind. And, as in every piece of human history, there is always some kind of tyrant that appears and scares everyone into believing in him.

In addition to Durand and Teague, the cast also includes Freya Allan (The witcher), William Macy (Fargo), Eka Darville (Jessica Jones) and Lydia Peckham (Cowboy bebop).

The Planet of the Apes

It is worth noting that although the films most remembered by The Planet of the Apesand who revitalized the franchise, be it the 2011 reboots (The origin), 2014 (The fight) and 2017 (War), the originals are much older, having been released from 1968 onwards.

In total, there are nine films: five major feature films, a one-off remake from 2001, directed by Tim Burton (and it didn’t do well), and the new reboot trilogy that began in 2011: the first film was directed by Rupert Wyat. Matt Reeves took over the direction of both sequels.
