The 26-year-old midfielder will say goodbye to River Plate on Friday (22) and will play with the Rossoneri shirt from next season
After a long negotiation, Flamengo had a happy outcome this Saturday (17) and agreed to sign Nicolás De La Cruz, 26 years old. The player, originally from Argentinian River Plate, was Rubro-Negro’s main target for next season and will sign a five-year contract. The information comes from the “ge” portal.
During this Saturday (17th), both sides had a meeting, which lasted about six hours, until an agreement was reached. Deputy footballer Marcos Braz, director Bruno Spindel and player representatives participated in the conversation. The Rossoneri management thus returns to Brazil with a sense of duty fulfilled.
The remaining issue between the two parties was the amount of the fine that would be stipulated in the contract. In this way, Flamengo wanted to protect itself from possible attacks by foreign clubs in the coming years.
In this sense, De La Cruz will sign a five-year contract, but the extent of the fine is not yet known. The agreement, therefore, has not yet been made official, as 16 million dollars (79 million reais) of the fine for the termination of the Uruguayan’s contract with River Plate remain to be transferred.
Goodbye to River Plate
Given this scenario, the athlete will say goodbye to River next Friday (22nd), when the team will play the Trofeo de Campeones, a sort of Argentine Super Cup. The opponent, in fact, will be Rosario Central or Platense, who will decide the Argentine League Cup on Saturday (17).
The 26-year-old began his career at Liverpool, Uruguay. In 2017 he signed with River Plate, where he won the Libertadores, Recopa Sul-Americana and Campeonato Argentino. During that period, he played 211 matches and scored 36 goals, which earned him a call-up to the Uruguay national team. With the Olympic star, the midfielder has 25 games under his belt and five goals scored, and is the brother of midfielder Carlos Sánchez, formerly of Santos and currently at Peñarol.
