Jim Carrey: Go back to his forgotten series, canceled after 13 episodes!

Before “Mask,” Ace Ventura, or Truman, Jim Carrey was the protagonist of a (very) short sitcom that first aired in 1984, as we learn from Jim Carrey in the documentary Unmask America, available for free.

Arte offers a free and until June 9 documentary on Jim Carrey, Masked America, signed by Thibaut Seve and Adrienne Denuet. The latter had already signed a book on American comedy, and today it is with images that his analysis of the 1994 record-breaking record on American soil is rejected.

Specifically in this film, we learn that Jim Carrey, before his career in cinema and even in the comic show “Vivid Color”, which contributed to his popularity, was the protagonist of a series of fiction that is completely forgotten today and which was still there. First credits.

In this series called The Duck Factory, he plays his first major role. He plays a cartoonist-animator who goes to Hollywood to find work. He finds one firm with a very low budget and a special atmosphere. Moreover, after the death of the founder he was immediately named as a producer!

This comedy was briefly aired from April to July 1984, before it was suddenly released after 13 episodes. NBC broadcast them in disarray. Thus, the second episode, which dealt with the Cliff Hanger introduced by the pilot, was aired as the 13th episode, which did not help the public interest in the show, which they presented without the tail and head.

While this is a comedy, Jim Carrey is especially sober. The imitations or sketches he used to play on stage before are not included and we find very few familiar actors today.

It must be said that humor comes mainly from dialogues and not from situations, and Kerry plays a naive young man who is confronted with an unknown world. Definitely not the best environment for his very “inner” and very physical humor.

This series, which is still hard to watch today, is part of a rather rare piece of information offered by the documentary Jim Carrey, America in Mask, which is available on the Arte website or in the video above until June 9th.

Jim Carrey is one of the stars of French descent:
