The death of former Corinthians player and idol Marcelinho Carioca, 51 years old, had new developments after the case began to be investigated under the hypothesis of an alleged kidnapping by the Civil Police. Missing since Sunday 17th, after going to a show in Sao Paulo, Marcelinho was found this Monday 18th. The Military Police also arrested the suspects involved in the crime.

• Marcelinho Carioca was last seen on Sunday afternoon, after going to the show Afternoon of the singer Thiaguinho in Itaquera, in the eastern area of the capital of Sao Paulo. • Marcelinho’s car was found this Monday in Itaquaquecetuba, from where the investigations began. A missing person and vehicle location report was registered at the Mogi das Cruzes sectional police station, according to the São Paulo Public Security Secretariat (SSP).
• Although initially unconfirmed, authorities were already working on the hypothesis that Marcelinho may have been the victim of a kidnapping. • In the video, Marcelinho, who appears with a black eye, says he had an affair with a married woman during the show and was kidnapped by the betrayed man. The defense confirms that he is the one who appears in the images, but underlines that the content is counterfeit: “It’s all a lie. He spoke with force,” lawyer Eduardo Rodriguez said at the hearing. • The police also identified a transfer of R$30,000 via Pix made by Marcelinho’s family members to one of the alleged kidnappers.
