This canceled action series, rated 4.3 out of 5, will soon be available on Netflix

New news has arrived. We’re reporting that Warrior will not be returning for a fourth season on Max Deadline. However, the three existing seasons of the action and martial arts series should find a new audience as Netflix will offer the series in its catalog thanks to a co-exclusive rights deal with Max.

The cancellation comes four months after the end of the 10-episode third season of the Andrew Codge-helmed series.

Warrior is scheduled to arrive on Netflix in February 2024 in the US. We await confirmation on French territory. If successful, Netflix may order a new season of the drama based on Bruce Lee’s original idea, sources told Deadline.

As a result of this twist, the warrior “moves” to the third platform in three seasons! The series debuted in 2019 on Cinemax, where it ran for two seasons before it was announced in early 2020 that Cinemax was ending original creations. Thus, the Max platform, a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Discovery picked up the series with a third season order in spring 2021, which aired this summer and ended on August 17.

Warrior is a series that simply refuses to die. Despite platform and mode changes, the writers, producers, cast, crew and our stunt team have continued to create something powerful, relevant and incredibly unique. Today, thanks to Netflix, we get another chance at life, and I’m thrilled for everyone involved that millions of viewers around the world are discovering it– said series creator Jonathan Tropper in a statement to Deadline.

Shannon Lee, executive producer and daughter of Bruce Lee, added:If anything can be said about a warrior, with Bruce Lee by our side, our indomitable spirit is real! So I hope that Netflix’s huge global audience loves Warrior, and that from that love comes even more good – in the form of greater recognition of our talented cast and crew, who deserve it all, in the form of passionate fandom for this heartbreaking series, and, if I dare Dreaming of an opportunity to continue our story for our incredible fans who will grow in numbers and enthusiasm thanks to Netflix!

The cast of Warrior has been released from their contracts, so it may be difficult to reunite them for new episodes. Series star Andrew Codge, who played Ah Sahm in all three seasons, has already moved on to star in Gangs of London and Sixteen, an action comedy set for release in 2024.

Created and produced by Jonathan Tropper, Warrior is set in late 19th century San Francisco China during the Tong War. The series follows Ah Sahm, a martial arts prodigy who immigrates from China to San Francisco under mysterious circumstances. After proving his worth as a fighter, Ah Sahm becomes a member of Hope Wei, one of the most powerful organized crime families in Chinatown.
