To see at the cinema: a children’s film with an investigative spider

once : Inspector Sun, the famous spider detective, boards a seaplane in San Francisco after finally capturing his sworn enemy, the Red Locust. During the flight, Dr. Bugs’ murder of Epiphanystone leads him into a new investigation into the heart of a conspiracy that threatens both the human world and the insect world.

In Detective Sunshine and the Curse of the Black Widow, set in the 1930s, a clumsy spider-detective heads to San Francisco. Deciding to take a break, Inspector Sun has to return to work as one of the passengers is found dead. He will be supported by the young and cheeky Janet.

Homage to black films, this whodunit Aimed at children, it is reminiscent of the recent Knives with Daniel Craig and appeals to the newbie Sherlock Holmes.

Children are happy to see that insects have their own society and established rules parallel to ours. The garbage served on board the plane, the police spiders and the scene where the spiders enter the human cabin will be great fun for the little ones.

Combining the 1930s, insects and an Agatha Christie-style plot, this version of the 1001-legged spider is highly original.

What could be bothering them? : The plot of the film revolves around the murders committed in the plane. Certain sequences may therefore be disturbing to youngsters, particularly the one where the ants retrieve the body of the dead spider Bugsy Epinoker.

A few scenes in Black Widow can scare little ones, especially the one where Arabella shows her long teeth. During one sequence, the copter commander threatens to throw Jeanette out of the plane.

The various insects in the film have very human-like graphics, so arachnophobic viewers should not be too bothered.

What they will keep deep: Spiders have always caused admiration, but also rejection. Therefore, one of the main concerns of the film crew was to find ways to make children and their parents empathize with their work. Therefore, the graphics of the characters of the movie were specially worked on to get cute and funny characters, so that the public will understand that spiders are harmless.

An almost filial relationship develops between Inspector Sun and Janet throughout the film. The latter will realize that he needs the young spider and that he will not be able to complete the investigation if he is left alone.

Thus, children will learn the importance of friendship, mutual support and team spirit. Even if we are small, if we stick together, we can get through it.
