However, this article will focus on the original 1961 cartoon. Most viewers probably didn’t realize that the illustrators, for all their attention to detail, had made a glaring mistake in the very first scenes of the film.
Error in the 101 Dalmatians scene
You will surely remember the scene in which Roger Radcliffe is walking through the London park with his Dalmatian Pongo and, suddenly, the dog pulls on the leash uncontrollably. The reason: he smelled the Dalmatian Perdita, who is relaxing in the park with her owner Anita.
Pongo uses a trick to get Anita and Perdita’s attention: he steals its owner’s hat and places it next to Anita on the park bench. However, he is unable to distract himself from reading her book and a moment later she and Perdita simply disappear.
Pongo chases them, drags the hatless Roger with him and runs around the two, causing them to get tangled in his leash. Roger is embarrassed by the situation and wants to apologize to his future wife… taking his hat off!
