Acclaimed screenwriter, director, and producer, Frank Darabont is known for three adaptations of Stephen King’s works, The Escapes (1994), The Green Line (1999), and The Mist (2007), and for co-writing three horror films. Nightmare Claws (1987) and The Blob (1988) and The Fly 2 (1989).
But the Hungarian-born filmmaker also created, produced and wrote one of the most popular series of recent years: The Walking Dead, based on the comic book of the same name by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore and Charlie Adlard.
Even though this zombie series, which ran from 2010 to 2022, has come to an end, its universe is still being used by many spin-offs, the latest of which is The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, a hit.
Aside from The Walking Dead, Frank Darabont hasn’t had any major projects in recent years, but it looks like the three-time Oscar-nominated writer, director, and producer is returning to work on another hugely popular series.
According to SoonHaving received information – taken with a grain of salt – from The InSneider, Frank Darabont will be in talks to direct the highly anticipated final two episodes of Stranger Things!
Netflix has yet to confirm this information, which would be somewhat consistent, knowing that Stephen King’s work has heavily influenced Matt and Ross Duffer’s series. These final episodes of Stranger Things have been the subject of much speculation, but the creators have debunked at least one stubborn theory.
If the reports turn out to be true, it would be a lucrative return for Frank Darabont, who hasn’t directed a series since his fictional Mob City. The Duffer brothers and Sean Levy (Deadpool 3) are expected to direct the remaining episodes of the fifth and final season of Stranger Things, which begins production next month.
The first four seasons of Stranger Things are available on Netflix.
