Between departures and arrivals, Corinthians should have a reformulated midfield for 2024

Given the movements in the football market, Corinthians should reformulate their midfield for the 2024 season.

In the sector, Timão has already announced the departures of Renato Augusto and Giuliano, who ended 2023 as starters in Mano Menezes’ team. Midfielder Victor Cantillo, who played little last season, is also expected to leave the club.

Fausto Vera is not excluded from Corinthians’ plans, but at the same time he has lost prestige due to his lower performance this year. The player, therefore, is also seen as a bargaining chip and can be involved in some negotiations deemed advantageous for Alvinegro.

Gabriel Moscardo also finished last season as a starter, but is about to say goodbye to Corinthians. Terrão’s son has practically all it takes to move permanently to Paris Saint-Germain from France.

Midfielder Roni has received little game time since this year’s Campeonato Paulista and is considered negotiable. Matheus Araújo is wanted by other clubs, but Corinthians intends to renew his contract, valid until the end of 2024.

Absolute starter with Mano Menezes, Maycon should stay at Corinthians. The club extended the loan for another year, which is celebrated internally. At 26, the athlete can perform various functions on the pitch and has grown in the home stretch of 2023.

As for arrivals, Corinthians is moving on the market. The club is close to reaching an agreement for the purchase of Raniele, who will be able to play the role of first or second midfielder. The 26-year-old is considered a pillar of the Cuiabá led by António Oliveira.

Timão has shown interest in Erick, from Atletico-PR, and Thiago Mendes, from Al-Rayyan, but so far the negotiations have not progressed. The trend is for Timão to bring more names to fill the sector considered the “heart” of a football team.
