“Creative, epic, daring”: This great director returns in 2024 and his film is already inspiring

From Michael Mann to Francis Ford Coppola, it’s only a step away for Adam Driver, who continues to build the most impressive filmography ever. Headlining the Heat auteur’s Ferrari biopic, which is slated to hit Prime Video in 2024, he’ll be next in Apocalypse Now’s father’s crazy project: Megalopolis.

A film that the filmmaker loved for several decades and which he had to give up at the beginning of the 21st century. And more precisely after September 11, 2001, because the megalopolis especially evokes the reconstruction of New York, after the cataclysm, by an architect who then tries to create a utopia.

Francis Ford Coppola ultimately paid the $100 million production budget himself, and despite rumors of a chaotic shoot, filming wrapped last March. And everyone is waiting to see the first pictures. An impatience that Adam Driver’s words should not calm.

This is how we should make movies

“Because he financed it himself, it was one of the best, if not the best, filming experiences I’ve ever had”– says the actor Collider. “There was no unwanted discussion, there was no question of Paul taking his clothes off so Jacqui could put them on.”

“He seemed to be in control of the movie he wanted to make, and that was it. I was like, ‘This is how we should make movies.’ Because he’s the most generous person and philosopher I know. I loved the process and making this movie with him. I love talking to him.”

“The movie is crazy. It’s very creative, it’s huge, it’s epic and it’s daring. It takes risks and I couldn’t be more excited about it.” It’s just a matter of patience before many hope that this megalopolis, also worn by Natalie Emmanuel, Laurence Fishburne, Aubrey Plaza, Shia LaBeouf, Jason Schwartzman and Dustin Hoffman, will be presented at Cannes in May.
