Of the 90 spots analyzed in the state, 81 are swimmable and nine are in unsuitable conditions.

The State Foundation for Environmental Protection (Fepam) published, this Friday (22/12), the second bulletin of the Bathing project for the 2023/2024 season. Of the 90 spots analyzed in the state, 81 are swimmable and nine are in unsuitable conditions.

Check for inappropriate spots

  • Alegrete: Balneário Caverá – Arroio Caverá
  • Barra do Ribeiro: Recanto das Mulatas Beach – Guaíba Lake
  • Cerrito: Balneário Cerrito – Rio Piratini
  • Pedro Osório: Balneário Pedro Osório – Rio Piratini
  • Pelotas (2 points): Valverde Av. Senador Joaquim A. de Assunção | Valverde-Trapiche
  • Santa Maria: Passo do Verde Spa – Vacacaí River
  • São Jerônimo: Encontro Beach – Rio Jacuí
  • Tapes: Balneário Rebelo
  • This week, the cities of Jaguari and Rosário do Sul were removed from the list of inappropriate spots, as were two spots in Pelotas. Due to the flood it was not possible to collect in Dom Pedrito. In this case the recommendation is that swimmers avoid the Passo Real area.

    In the summer period, warnings on places suitable or not for bathing will be highlighted on information signs posted at water collection points. Holidaymakers will also be able to consult the results of the analyzes on the Balneabilidade web application.

    Recommendations for swimmers:

  • enter the water only in places suitable for bathing;
  • avoid swimming in the first 24 hours after heavy rains in the mouths of streams or rivers that flow onto the beaches, as the water could be contaminated by domestic sewage;
  • Do not swim in places with concentrations of algae, as they may contain toxins that are harmful to your health.
