Percy Jackson’s successful comeback. Already adapted for cinema in 2010 and 2013, without much success with fans, the literary saga became a series for the Disney+ platform, and the public was there. Six days after being released online, the first two episodes posted online were viewed by 13.3 million subscribers.
These figures allow the series to enter the podium of the best release on Disney+ / Hulu platforms in 2023. In comparison, Ahsoka’s first episode of Star Wars had 14 million subscribers within five days of its release. Percy Jackson is below, but it’s important to remember that the series is aimed at a more specific audience – mostly young people.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians stands out from the two film adaptations starring author Rick Riordan, who produced, co-wrote the first two episodes and oversaw the entire series. The result speaks for itself: the critical and public response is much better, especially from the fan community, who are excited to see the program being much more faithful to the novels.
More episodes of Percy Jackson will be released weekly on the platform. The series is available on Disney+.
