NCIS: We know more about honoring David McCallum (Duck) in season 21

On September 25, NCIS fans learned of the tragic death at the age of 90 of David McCallum, who played forensic pathologist Donald “Duck” Mallard on the detective series for nearly 20 years.

Many questions have been left unanswered since the announcement, with many wondering if the death will be integrated into the storylines of NCIS Season 21, which airs on February 12 in the US.

and according to exclusive information TVLineThe second episode of the new season will revive the actor’s death and pay tribute to one of the favorite characters of science fiction fans, Ducky.

Also Brian Dietzen, who has played Dr. Jimmy Palmer, Duck’s little protégé since season one, will co-write this tribute episode alongside NCIS executive producer Scott Williams.

The two showrunners of the series, Stephen D. Binder and David North told our colleagues that it was “It’s important to do an episode that pays tribute to such a legendary actor and a very dear friend.“

“In this episode, the team learns of Duck’s death and reminisces about him and mourns“- they said. “True to Duck’s meticulous and generous nature, he will be able to solve the latest crime with the team even after he is gone..”

At this point, the two showrunners have not revealed whether the former cast members will return for cameos, though they have announced that there will be “A very touching and special moment you won’t want to miss.”

David McCallum was the last member of the original NCIS cast following the departure of Mark Harmon at the start of season 19, with Sean Murray (McGee) and Brian Dietzen both appearing as recurring cast members.
