Released in our cinemas on February 16, 2022, the first part of Nursing Home was a success, with more than 2 million admissions. Entrusted to director Thomas Guilloux (Truth or Lies), Maison de Retraite brought together Kev Adams, Jarre, Gérard Depardieu, Daniel Prévost, Milen Damonjot, Jean-Luc Bidaud, Lillian Rovere, Firmin Richard and Marte Villalonga.
The sequel is already coming to the big screen. The first pictures have just arrived.
The nursing home invites you to meet Milan (Kev Adams) and some of the residents of the nursing home: Fleurette, Sylvette, Alfred, Edmond… The latter are now caring for the children of the orphanage. Where it would be a matter of shenanigans around dark matter expulsion.
When Lino Vartan’s home – which welcomes young orphans and the elderly – has to close for health reasons, Milan has no choice but to respond to an invitation from a nursing home in the south that welcomes them for the summer. Everyone gets on the Albany bus. Then children and adults will discover the Bel Azur Club, an idyllic villa by the sea: a dream! God’s gift to these orphaned children who have never had a vacation… But heaven turns into hell because the old and new old people hate each other! A war of heads has been declared!
Retirement House 2 will be released almost 2 years after the first installment. The theatrical release date for the sequel is February 14, 2023. It will open as a preview of the 2024 Alpe d’Huez Comedy Festival.
What’s the casting for this sequel?
Kev Adams and several residents from the first episode will return. Daniel Prevost, Lillian Rovere, Marte Villalonga, Firmin Richard and Jean-Luc Bidaud will return. The army also returns to the role of Albani. Gerard Depardieu, who is currently in a media frenzy, will not be cast, given the fate of his character in the first installment. Milen Demonjot, who died in December 2022, will logically not be in the credits.
There are many newcomers: Jean Reno, Amanda Lear, Chantal Ladessou, Enrico Macias and Michel Jonas. Also announced are Brahim Buhlel (seen in Validé), Luna Espinoza (seen in Rumba la vie with Franck Dubosk), Anna Marivin and Stephane Debak.
After Thomas Gilloux, Claude Zid Jr. directs The Retirement House 2. He previously directed Les Déguns 1 and 2 and even The Tenor. Kev Adams will write the script, as well as the first part. Note that Retirement Home 1 was written by Kev Adams and Catherine Diament.
The Nursing Home, released on February 16, 2022, is available on DVD and VOD.
