5 reasons to watch a new series about Mukhich and Christina from “Policeman from Rublyovka”

After an undercover operation that goes awry due to a flamethrower and a burnt down mansion, Muhic and Cristina lose their jobs with the police and are glad they didn’t go to jail. The career is ruined, the salary does not fall on the card every month, and the former policemen from Rublyovka do not know what to do next … But suddenly an oligarch is announced, ready to give them 100 million rubles. With this money, Igor Mukhich decides to open a private detective agency and invites Kristina to work for him. Ahead of them are meetings with elite clients and a whole series of “hardest” cases that Mukhich will have to solve with his signature method.

Continuation of the universe “Policeman from Rublyovka”

“Policeman from Rublyovka” is one of the main hits of TNT and a series with a huge fan base, which stretched for five seasons, two feature films and two seasons of a prequel about Volodya Yakovlev. Behind all the stories from the world of law enforcement officers from the elite Rublyovka is the screenwriter Ilya Kulikov, who also wrote the Mukhich Detective Agency. According to the showrunner, you do not need to know what happened in the previous parts, and any viewer can follow the investigations of Mukhich and Christina.

It will be able to watch both those who have not seen a single episode of “Policeman from Rublyovka” and fans of the universe. There will be Easter eggs, there will be old acquaintances like deputy Roman Andreevich or Gudkova,” says Kulikov.

Also, the presence of Ilya Kulikov suggests that the set bar for the level of humor will continue. The mix of absurdity, charm and unpredictable plots in the new series is guaranteed.

Chemistry of Popov and Kashtanova

The tandem of Sofia Kashtanova and Roman Popov has long played enough for an independent series. They have been working together in the frame for 6 years and, perhaps, can be considered not just actors, but co-authors of their characters. They recently brought the magic of their duet to the big screen with the film Nerd and Supergirl, and in front of it Roman Popov talked about what it was like for him and Sophia to be in front of the camera together so often.

I somehow come to make-up, and Sonya says: “I have a feeling that you and I have been filming for 25 years.” Because at that moment we spent more time with each other than Sonya with her husband, and I with my wife. But that was the beauty. We ate each other on the set to take a break and then start a new project. But what a sin to hide: we missed working together, – says Roman Popov.

Comedy detective genre

“Muhic’s Detective Agency” is a kind of mix from “Sherlock” and “Moonlight Detective Agency”, generously seasoned with absurdity. Mukhich and Christina are here, like Sherlock and Watson, only Sherlock acts in the most idiotic ways, and Watson only cares about money at first.

The comedy detective genre in Russia (and in the world) is a rare beast, and at least for this reason, the Mukhich Detective Agency should be given attention. The protagonist unravels the simplest cases in the most ornate way, asks the dumbest questions at the inquest, and seems to be screening the meme “What’s in front of you? Only wrong answers are accepted!”.

Movie references

“Muhic’s Detective Agency” is one big ode to the love of cinema. Ilya Kulikov hides Easter eggs in each of his projects, making homages to his favorite films and series. We can say that “Muhic” is a concentrate of references. He voices them out loud, connects the cases under investigation with the movies he has watched, and does the same as the heroes from the world of dreams. Muhic’s Detective Agency has features from Lie to Me, Tenet, Scarface, Ocean’s Eleven, and many more.

Igor Valeryevich is extremely close to any cinema. He is a very watchful person, a movie buff, so in everything that happens in real life he sees some allusions, references to classic cinema. I am also a movie fan, but I do not believe in the realities that are happening, as in the plot of the film. I can remember that some situation in life is similar to how it was in this or that movie. But Mukhich really lives in this. Due to his naivety, he believes in everything that happens: if a person goes backwards, then for him it’s definitely Nolan’s Tenet, and not just a person who decided to make fun of him, says Roman Popov.

Return of Volodya Yakovlev

The favorite of all fans of the series “Policeman from Rublyovka”, the perfect performer of a song about a granite stone inside, a man who is afraid of demons and always plays a joke with the number “300” – he will return in the series “Mukhich’s Detective Agency”. This appearance will be fleeting, but significant – in one of the episodes, the heroes of the series will come to Yakovlev for advice. Who knows, maybe this is the announcement of the high-profile return of Volodya Yakovlev to the universe of “Policeman from Rublyovka”, in which he has not appeared since the release of the film “New Year’s Mayhem 2”.
