At some point in their career, many authors end up falling into the sweet trap of creating a story about the power of stories. Whether it’s breaking out of a creative stasis, reconnecting with what they’ve dedicated their lives to, or working through some personal issues that, consciously or unconsciously, end up permeating the final result.




It’s somewhat tricky terrain, of course, leaving something that can lean towards the side of self-indulgence, even if the author in question feels a sort of catharsis. But, sometimes, it ends up being one of the moments in which he manages to connect most with the audience, sharing an unimaginable enthusiasm for the stories. Few titles have been as successful as Big Fish and his wonderful stories.

Big Fish and His Wonderful Stories is one of the films Tim Burton fondly remembered by the public, being the favorite of many, in a career that also includes great cultural pillars, such as Edward scissor hands. The director puts many personal experiences into this fantasy which celebrates 20 years since its release in theaters in 2023 (in Brazil the film was released in February 2004).
