Steven Moffat is still a busy man, even after Sherlock ended almost 7 years ago. The screenwriter and friend of Mark Gatiss has a series of projects lined up for television and is reportedly working on a script for Tintin 2.
The interview was received by a British newspaper time On Doctor Who (which has made a strong comeback with the new Doctor), Cancel Culture and today’s comedy, Moffat revealed that he wanted to write an English remake of the main American series: A la White House (The West Wing).
Conceived by Aaron Sorkin, the latter made its mark on television in the late 2000s by taking it behind the scenes of the White House, where the team of the President of the United States manages the most diverse problems.
If it does, the remake won’t necessarily focus on the royal family (Netflix’s The Crown did a very good job of that), but will most likely follow the prime minister in his day-to-day life. Still in English media, Moffat explains “necessity”To set up this type of project: “We could not take today’s politicians seriously. Our cynicism towards them has turned them into cynical people. If you tell them they’re just a bunch of self-centered maniacs, why do they bother being different?
The showrunner reassures readers by explaining that his series will still have humor (which is more true to his style!). At the moment, this project is not really relevant, but its intervention could be a wake-up call for possible producers, channels or streaming platforms.
In anticipation of this possible remake of West Wing: In the White House, Moffat is currently working on his upcoming TV series titled Douglas Canceled with Hugh Bonneville and Karen Gillan.
