Anatomy of a Fall, winner of the Palme d’Or, has an early release

Big winner of the Cannes Film Festival in 2023, the film made Justine Triet the third director to win the main prize in the event’s history

Previously scheduled for February 22nd, Anatomy of a Fall, winner of the Palme d’Or at the 76th edition of the Cannes Film Festival last year, will arrive in Brazilian cinemas a little earlier. This Wednesday (3), Diamond Films announced that the premiere of the new film was brought forward and, now, the film will be shown in cinemas across the country from January 25th.

Starring German actress Sandra Hüller (The Faces of Toni Erdmann, The Ideal Man), the film tells the story of a writer suspected of having killed her own husband. She goes to trial and the only witness is the couple’s son, who tries to recover memories of the tragedy. Watch the trailer:

By winning the Palme d’Or in Cannes last year, the production made Justine Triet, who led the production, became the third woman to win the festival’s grand prize in the event’s history. Before her, only Jane Campion, with The Piano, in 1993; It is Julia Ducournauwith Titanein 2021.

In addition to being highlighted at the Cannes Festival, Anatomy of a Fall competes in the categories Best Drama Film, Best Screenplay, Best Non-English Language Film and Best Drama Actress at the 81st edition of the Golden Globes, which takes place next Sunday, January 7th.
