More than two years after the accident that claimed the life of cinematographer Halina Hutchins, the first photos of the western Rust have just been revealed.
To remind you, on October 21, 2021, actor Alec Baldwin accidentally shot a revolver, allegedly loaded with blanks, at the film’s cinematographer and director Joel Souza. If the shot was fatal for Halina Hutchins, the director was only injured. Filming on the feature film has been suspended pending a renewal in April 2023.
In January 2023, Alec Baldwin was charged with first degree murder, but a few months later special prosecutors Kari Morrissey and Jason Lewis released a statement about the decision to drop the charges against the comedian. The gunman, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, is being prosecuted for first degree murder.
More than just set photos, the site has released the first images from the movie Rust Deadline Pay tribute to the work of Halina Hutchins.
American media clarifies: “Halina Hutchins’ visual style can be seen in the first two photos above: actor Frances Fisher in the doorway and the Lone Rider style on the right of the screen.
The remaining three photos are the work of the cinematographer Bianca Kleinwho replaced Hutchins when production resumed in April 2023 at Yellowstone Film Ranch, Montana.
Starring Alec Baldwin, Travis Fimmel, Jensen Ackles, Francis Fisher and a young Brady Nown, Rust follows Harland Rust (Baldwin), a notorious outlaw who has had a price on his head for years. When his grandson, 13-year-old Lucas, is convicted of murder and sentenced to be hanged, Rusty travels to Kansas to help him. The two fugitives must escape Marshal Wood Helm (Ackles) and ruthless bounty hunter Fenton “Preacher” Lang (Fimmel) who are hot on their trail. The release date has not been announced yet.
Two documentaries on the drama are also expected to see the light of day. The first one will be directed by Rory Kennedy and therefore varietyAlec Baldwin has been given his version of the facts, while another, titled Circus of Books, directed by Rachel Mason and produced by Julie Metz – both friends of Halina Hutchins – will focus on the aftermath of the accident.
