Jump and slacker

This is one of the few shoujo (anime aimed at a female audience) to appear on the list of the best anime of the year. It tells the story of Iwakura Mitsumi, a girl who graduated from elementary school in a small rural school and entered a prestigious Tokyo high school as class president.

The heaven of hell

“Jigokuraku” (or “Paradise of Hell”, as it was called in the West) was for many the best anime of the year 2023 and no wonder.

[Oshi no Ko]

“Oshi no Ko” is probably the most curious work of the year and certainly has a very different synopsis from what you have already seen around. The work tells the story initially focused on Gorou Honda, gynecologist and big fan of the idol Ai Hoshino.
When a pregnant Ai shows up at his hospital after announcing a break in her career, Gorou gets involved in the preparations for the birth so that everything goes perfectly. However, the story takes an unexpected turn when, due to a series of events, Gorou is murdered during a date with the girl.
The turning point comes when Gorou is reborn as Aqua, one of the children of the idol he admired. Now, together with Ai and her twin sister Ruby, Aqua explores Japan’s entertainment industry, revealing the dangers hidden behind the scenes. Don’t let the seemingly meaningless synopsis put you off, as this is undoubtedly one of the best anime of 2023.

Rurouni Kenshin

Although the original manga is from 1994 and the work also had a very popular anime in 1996, which arrived in Brazil with the name “Samurai 2023.
The work tells the story of Kenshin Himura, a skilled swordsman known as “Battousai the Shredder”, who once fought in the Revolution, but now seeks redemption using his reverse-bladed sword, vowing to never kill again. The anime has been completely redesigned and faithfully follows the events of the manga and is a great transition to the work.

PLUTO

This is not only one of the best anime of the years, but for many it can even be considered one of the best anime ever produced. It is a reinterpretation by Naoki Urasawa, one of the geniuses of manga, of the legendary work of Osamu Tezuka, considered the father of manga, “Astro Boy”.
But, unlike the original work, “Pluto” deals with much deeper themes and presents everything in a much more adult way, following the plot of a series of murders perhaps caused by a robot. The anime was highly praised for faithfully following the manga and for its extremely beautiful animation.
