Highlander: After 26 years, what happened to Adrian Paul, the star of the series?

“Behold, we are born to be kings: we are the princes of the world…” This unforgettable song written by Queen for the movie Highlander became the theme song for the spin-off series! It immediately immerses its viewers in sword fights, the quest for immortality and the rush!

But since the series aired on TF1 and M6: what happened to Adrian Paul, the star of the series?

After “Highland”.

Paul portrayed Duncan McLeod, the cousin of Connor McLeod from the Highlander films. He played the character for 6 seasons and 119 episodes of 48 minutes. And if you’ve never seen the end of the Highlander series, here it is!

While the series was a huge success, after the failure of Highlander: Guardian of the Immortals, a 2007 TV movie that was unanimously poorly received by fans of the saga, Adrian Paul’s career fell into the B series. Examples purely from this era, unfortunately still going on today, include Yetis: Terror in the Mountains, Apocalypse Pompeii or The Eye.

We see him again on the small screen in the DC Comics series Arrow in 2019, but that doesn’t allow him to return to less private performances. In 2023, she appeared exclusively in the family film Wildfire, alongside Ann Hatches and Mo Brings Plenty, a story of friendship between a young girl and a wild horse, inspired by a Cherokee legend. Although his plans for 2024 are numerous, many of them will not make it to us.

However, Paul has other projects close to his heart, e.g Sword experienceThe sword fighting demonstrations he hosts around the world.

Hire him in “Maghalmtiani”

Adrian Paul’s career began with his roles in Dynasty II: The Clobys (1986), followed by Greg Strangis’ The New War of the Worlds (1989). In 1992, he was the first of 400 actors to audition for the role of Connor McLeod, the hero of the Highlander films.

We prefer Derek de Lint, but the latter quits during the preparation of the show and Adrian Paul is called in for disaster. Once hired, Paul insisted on playing another person to create his own version of the character, and so the writers created Duncan McLeod.

Perhaps thanks to this change, the series was successful and allowed Adrian Paul to star in Highlander: Endgame (2000) and reunited with Christophe Lambert (who appeared in the show’s pilot), then Highlander – The Guardian of Immortality (2007).

Among them, movies without much interest and a season of Tracker, in which he plays an alien law enforcement officer who tracks down creatures that have taken human form and infiltrated Earth. Rediscovered, Adrian Paul is in for a big return to the fore.
