Dear Leroy Jethro Gibbs of NCIS will soon be back on our screens in a prequel series featuring his younger days, Variety has confirmed. NCIS: OriginsAnd which should see the light of day in the 2024-2025 season. The show is set in 1991, with Mark Harmon (who played Gibbs for nearly two decades) as the narrator.
In the series, the iconic character begins his career as a special agent at the newly created NCIS office, Camp Pendleton. There, he’ll have to find his place in a motley and brave team led by NCIS legend Mike Franks.

To create a series, Mark Harmon Accompanied by his son Sean Harmon. It was the latter who came up with the idea for the show, and while he already played the younger version of his father’s character in the original series, here he will concentrate on his work as an executive producer. All that remains is to find out who will play young Gibbs in this new spin-off.

Fans don’t know Gibbs’ full story
NCIS: Origins will be the latest extension of the NCIS franchise. In addition to the main series, which will soon begin its 21st season, CBS currently airs NCIS: Hawaii and NCIS: Sydney. The network also previously produced NCIS: Los Angeles and NCIS: New Orleans.

Mark Harmon Began playing the character of Gibbs in the TV series JAG before landing the lead role NCIS: Special Investigations When it debuted in 2003. In 2021, the actor left the series and became one of its executive producers.

NCIS: Origins is the latest series following the CBS-commissioned medical drama Watson, starring Dr. John Watson, Sherlock Holmes’ companion. CBS is also gearing up to launch new series Tracker with Justin Hartley ( This Is Us ) and Elsbeth Carey Preston ( The Good Wife ) next February.
