Arte Channel has a great idea to air a great movie classic this Sunday night: Alfred Hitchcock’s Rear Window. If you’ve never seen this wonder of a thriller, don’t miss the chance!
Released in cinemas in 1955, Rear Window tells the story of L.B. About Jeffries, a reporter-photographer who is forced to stay at home in a wheelchair due to a broken leg. A man of action and a lover of adventure, he realizes that he can take advantage of his enforced immobility by studying the behavior of the residents of the building he occupies in Greenwich Village.
His observations of L.B. Jeffries is led to believe that Lars Torvald, his neighbor across the street, killed his wife. His fiancee, Lisa Fremont, doesn’t take him seriously at first, ironically excited by his tutelage, but eventually joins the game…
A reflection on voyeurism, the thriller FenĂȘtre sur cour, presented as a closed door, is a timeless classic. The film, which is one of five films by Hitchcock that could not be seen on the screen for more than thirty years, shows the talent of its eminent author. The suspense is intense, the staging is genius… In short, Hitchcock is at his peak, surrounded by two Hollywood legends, Grace Kelly and James Stewart.
Close Your Eyes : Alfred Hitchcock makes a small cameo, as in most of his films. And finally, for a little anecdote, especially delicious, we note that, true to his dark humor, he suggested the following slogan for the release of FenĂȘtre sur cour: “If you don’t get a sweet sense of dread while watching this movie, don’t: you’re probably dead.”
Tonight on Arte at 9 o’clock.
