Cooler Master launches 2800W power supply for two-socket Xeon and EPYC processors, but with the ability to power up to four GeForce RTX 4090s
During CES 2024, Cooler Master introduced its new 2800W X Mighty 2000 Platinum power supply. In a modular scheme, the X Mighty 2000 Platinum is designed for the new Xeon processors and EPYC in dual-socket systems, but also has enough power to power up to four cards GeForce RTX 4090 with ease and stability.
This week, the The manufacturer has already presented two fanless power supplies that use advanced heat dissipation technologies for greater efficiency. In the new X Mighty Platinum 2000, the company combined these technologies with a Cooler Master Mobius fan, creating powerful airflow to deliver more than double the power of quiet units.
Up to four 12VHPWR connectors
Cooler Master currently already has a 2000W power supply with the CM M2000, which is also modular, but its design predates the new standard. 12VHPWR connectors for GPUs. The new Mighty Platinum 2000 X Series sources upgrade virtually the entire transformer design and thermal solution, providing stable power, even under heavy use.
For this reason the new “heat pipes” with very high thermal conductivity presented in the CM X Slient Edge series are also present in the X Mighty Platinum. Apparently, this should be the trend for all Cooler Master high-performance power supplies.

Instead of a single heat sink, the power supply uses modular aluminum alloy blocks, with thermal specifications sized for each region, particularly on the active MOSFET transformers. To ensure good airflow, Cooler Master also included a Mobius series fan in the design, but it is not yet clear whether it is the 120 mm model – also the version CPU coolers and AIOs -, or a 135mm model, a specific font standard.
The result is a power supply with two native 12VHPWR connectors and an additional six 8-pin PCIe connectors. Whereas you can use adapters from 3 8 pin connectors to 1 12VHPWRup to four GeForce RTX 4090 GPUs can be powered simultaneously, with an estimated consumption of up to 1800W, leaving 1000W for the rest of the system.

The Cooler Master Considering that the 2022 M2000 was launched for around US$460 (R$2,250), the new series is expected to follow the same segment or be slightly more expensive due to new technologies.
