Homecoming! Tom Cruise signs a contract with Warner Bros.

Tom Cruise is definitely a Hollywood star. The ones who still bring people to the cinema simply because he’s in the film.

So says “Top Gun: Maverick” (2022), which has grossed nearly $1.5 billion at the box office worldwide. And what about “Mission: Impossible”? The franchise is heading into its eighth feature film, scheduled for release in 2025.

The arrival of a name like his would mean an important purchase in the world of football. Something like bringing a Cristiano Ronaldo to your club. And that’s what Warner Bros. just did. Discovery.

According to the magazine VarietyThe deal will allow Cruise to produce and star in original films and participate in the studio’s franchises, such as “Mad Max,” “Harry Potter” and films from the DC Comics universe, for example.

So far, however, no project has been announced. The actor’s next films, in fact, will be made by other studios.

Shared custody

The signed contract is not exclusive – at least initially.

Especially since Tom Cruise made his biggest hits for other studios – and these franchises continue to be very profitable.

He will return to the screen now in Paramount’s “Mission: Impossible 8” and in another Universal Pictures film later this year or next.

The star’s future, however, should be increasingly focused on Warner. She will work directly with the group’s CEO, David Zaslav, and the two leaders of Warner Bros. Pictures, Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy.

The idea is for his production company, Cruise/Wagner Productions, to also move into an office within Warner Studios in Hollywood.

The announcement was made by both parties. Warner released a official announcement.

The star took to social media.
