Double Trap is Netflix’s first hit of the year. This adaptation of Harlan Coben’s novel kept subscribers hooked until no one saw the final twist. In the last episode, Maya confronts Bouquet’s family and is killed by her husband’s brother. Unfortunately for them, the scene was broadcast live on a whistleblower channel.

The action begins a few years later, when Maya’s daughter herself gives birth to a child. The circle has come full circle, in a way, for the Double Trap characters. From the start of production, Harlan Coben wanted to turn it into a mini-series to offer subscribers a real conclusion. Consequently, there will be no Season 2, despite the success its adaptation is currently enjoying.

This is not the first time that an American author chooses this strategy. Cobain is currently in his 7th collaboration with Netflix (out of 14 planned adaptations), and each time the screenwriter-turned-screenwriter makes a mini-series. It’s bullying, innocent, don’t go or even gone forever.

In a case of a double trap, the adaptation was at one point considered as a film, with a major international star in the role of Maya. But according to Cobain, the story did not fit into a feature film and he preferred to make it into an 8-episode series.
