President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said on Thursday (11) that former Supreme Court Minister Ricardo Lewandowski will take over the leadership of the Ministry of Justice from 1 February. Until then, Flávio Dino will remain in office. The announcement was made by Lula together with Lewandowski and Dino at the Palácio do Planalto. The first lady, Janja Lula da Silva, was also present.
“We have agreed that he will take office as minister on February 1. Until then, comrade Flávio Dino, the new Minister of the Supreme Court, who will also take office only on February 22, will continue to carry out his role in the masterful way which has so far satisfied”, declared the President of the Republic.
Lula praised Dino and Lewandowski. You stated that both the Ministry of Justice and the Supreme Court and the Brazilian people will benefit from both in their new positions. You also specified that the former STF minister agreed to head the Justice Department in a meeting that took place on Wednesday the 10th. Lula, Dino and Lewandowski spoke in prime time at the Palácio da Alvorada, when the agreement was signed.
The President of the Republic also said that when he appoints someone to a position it is because he has confidence in that person. He stated that usually he does not interfere in the assembly of the group of ministers. This is a sign of the power Lewandowski will have in court. Sources who know the former STF minister have been saying for weeks that he would not agree to work with a team other than his own.
