Vasco announced, on Friday morning, the purchase of Paraguayan defender Robert Rojas, from River Plate. The player arrives on loan, with a contract until the end of the 2024 season.
The defender began his career at Guaraní, Paraguay. With River Plate he won titles such as the Argentine Championship, the Recopa Sudamerican and the Supercopa Argentina. He also spent a period on loan at Tigre, from Argentina.
In August 2023, on the advice of coach Ramón Díaz, Vasco came very close to signing him, but a last-minute request from River ended the negotiations.

Rojas is one of the three reinforcements Vasco has for the 2024 season, in addition to João Victor, a defender who was at Benfica, and David, a striker on loan from Internacional.
Multipurpose
The Paraguayan is a defender by origin, but he experienced the best moment of his career playing as a right-back. The person responsible for this adaptation was coach Marcelo Gallardo, now in Saudi Arabia.
In 2021, coach Gallardo began testing him more frequently as a fullback. In his new role he naturally had fewer offensive resources than his original full-backs, but he stood out for his physical imposition in tackling, marking and safety when passing the ball.
