Corinthians lead the race to sign Caio Alexandre

Timão made a higher offer than Bahia, the midfielder’s main competitor. Furthermore, Fortaleza is reluctant to sell an athlete to his rival

Corinthians have advanced negotiations to sign midfielder Caio Alexandre from Fortaleza. The player, who did not even show up on Wednesday (10th) at the Leão do Pici for the pre-season, still does not know which shirt he will wear in 2024. However, Timão has taken a step ahead of the competitors for the athlete.

This is because the offer made by Corinthians is higher than that of Bahia, the main competitor in the dispute for the steering wheel. According to the newspaper ‘Lance’, Tricolor de Aço, led by Grupo City’s SAF, offered R$24.1 million for the player. Alvinegro’s offer has not been revealed, but it is known that the figures are higher than those of the Bahian club.

Furthermore, Fortaleza has no intention of strengthening a regional rival with one of its main players. Therefore, Leão do Pici prefers to deal the midfielder with Corinthians. Finally, Caio Alexandre also took an interest in Timão’s sporting project. Undergoing a major overhaul, the Parque São Jorge club understands that the athlete could be one of the pillars of the team in 2024.

For the sector, Corinthians have Maycon for another season, after managing to extend his loan to Shakhtar Donetsk, as well as Raniele, who recently arrived from Cuiabá.

Before the clash between Corinthians and Bahia, Caio Alexandre was very close to reaching an agreement with Palmeiras, Timão’s rival. However, after the arrival of Aníbal Moreno, Alviverde withdrew from the negotiations.
