He is invincible. Reacher, whose success cannot be denied, is still attracting a massive audience on Prime Video, we learn Deadline.
With the release of the first two episodes of Season 2, the series climbed to No. 2 in Nielsen’s streaming ratings, with 1.7 billion minutes watched between December 11 and 17.
This figure is quite similar to the interest it received during the last week of the first season, except that at the time eight episodes were airing at once.
While Nielsen doesn’t release individual viewership figures by season, it’s likely that the bulk of Reacher’s December numbers come from Season 2. It’s all the more impressive because there weren’t just two new episodes. Just two years after the success of the first season, Prime Video decided to broadcast the second season weekly.
Based on this first look, it’s safe to say that Reacher will likely remain on the Nielsen charts for several weeks.
In the billionaires club
As far as feature films go, The World After Us stayed at the top spot for another week with just under 2 billion minutes watched. This means that in the first 10 days of availability on Netflix, approximately 3.3 billion minutes were watched. Very good performance!
Sam Esmail’s thriller is on the verge of entering the list of most popular movies on Netflix, knocking Tyler Rake 2 out of the top 10. And according to the latest statistics from Netflix, The World After Us is hardly disappearing from the Nielsen ratings.
Here’s the full top 10 for streaming, movies and series combined (“1″ = feature film) and number of minutes watched:
On the series side, Young Sheldon maintained another strong audience week with 1.4 billion minutes. Since its release on Netflix, the series has had surprisingly high numbers — another example of how Netflix can grow viewership for works in a way that other streamers can’t. This did not prevent the series from being cancelled, however…
On Netflix, The Crown comes in at number four with 1.2 billion minutes watched since the last episode of the series aired. And a surprise new member joins the billionaires club: My Life with the Walter Boys, which rounds out the top 5. No wonder Netflix renewed the series so quickly.
