After computer madness, discover another adventure of young Dexter Riley (Kurt Russell): the most powerful man in the world. In this third episode, a young man takes a back seat in favor of an organized sports competition between two high schools. One of them has a formula to increase the strength of his athletes tenfold, the other hires two thugs (already seen in The Computer Madness) to steal the formula.

From 6 years (and not more?)

As is often the case at Disney, we’re following a proven recipe. Take computer madness, replace an accident with a computer with an accident with a bowl of cereal mixed with a dangerous chemical, and you have pretty much the same movie. If your kids liked the first one, they’ll like this one if they’re young enough.

Because The Most Powerful Man in the World contains a lot of very childish wit, even more than The Computer Runs Away.

What will they like?

Kurt Russell and his strength

  • If they are young enough, the film’s humor based on gags and very basic situations, as well as childish sound effects.
  • A sports competition with Medfield athletes who can’t lift the slightest weight, accompanied by many grimaces and visual tricks.
  • Dexter’s power comes into play in the latter part of the film, and the high-speed driving sequence that provides the film’s most spectacular moment.

What could be bothering them?

  • The relationship between gangster AJ Arno and his right-hand man, Cook. The former spends his time reprimanding the latter, which he can never do well enough. It’s part of the duo’s dynamic, but the chef’s constant irritation can wear on the little one’s sensibilities.
  • To their dismay, Ah Fong’s visit makes acupuncture a painless way to get information. That’s why the hero smiles with a needle in his forehead. Children may need reassurance.
