Should not culture benefit from a sovereign ministry?
I believe it all depends on who is responsible for this ministry, which is very important to the French. This is an essential mission and should be further strengthened and appreciated. I have always said that thanks to culture, people come together, endure and can do beautiful things.
Is cinema necessarily a political art? What inspires your recovery that can be done around a job like the recent “Bac Nord”?
Cinema can be quite a political art. So the community needs to be educated to know how to read it and at the same time remain independent. Audiovisual is inspired by life and tries to influence current events. We can appreciate it, but we must be vigilant and critical enough. Then it’s good to watch very good French political movies and series, I’m a big fan!
Do movies and TV series, among other things, have a call, in your opinion, to help “cross the lines” in social issues (parity, diversity, etc.)?
Yes, this is a great mission for cinema, both entertainment and education. I am deeply convinced that audiovisual art has played and continues to play a major role in changing history and morality.
