The young Beatriz Tudella, 20 years old, resident in Salvador, Bahia, is among the 60 candidates for the National High School Examination (Enem) 2023 who obtained the maximum score in the essay. In an interview with Earththe student shared her preparation journey, revealing that she dedicated two years of intensive studies in a pre-university course.
“My preparation for Enem lasted two years. I took the pre-university exam at Bernoulli [colégio de Salvador] and I studied a lot during that time. I also did other more specific subjects. And when I received the ticket, I was very happy. I didn’t expect a 1000. I expected a good grade, because I put a lot of effort into it, but the 1000 was a surprise, it was very positive,” she said.
A student of a private school, Beatriz believes that the constant practice of writing essays and correcting the elements recommended by experts was the key to obtaining a thousand marks, in addition to her dedication.
With the dream of studying Medicine at the Federal University of Bahia (Ufba), he also underlined the importance of a broad and productive repertoire, acquired during the years of preparation for the course.
“I think what made me score 1000 was not something I did in this specific essay, but during the two years, which shaped me a lot. I wrote one or two essays a week and always corrected my mistakes .And I also looked at a lot of repertoire, so what could I use on various writing topics and what would be a productive repertoire that, in fact, had to do with the theme,” he said.
Regarding the topic of the Enem 2023 essay, which was “Challenges in addressing the invisibility of care work performed by women in Brazil‘, the young woman thought it very relevant.
“I found this year’s theme very current, it is something that, in fact, should be discussed a lot, but I realized immediately after the test, when the comments started, that it surprised many people, because it is not something we talk a lot about this”, added the student, who considered Enem challenging, but in line with previous editions.
The aspiring doctor revealed that his decision to pursue medicine was made at the age of 14, before starting high school, and that he has maintained his career dream ever since. Beatriz emphasized the importance of discipline, attention to relevant subjects and organizing your study routine to achieve your desired grade.
With the news of her score of 1000, Beatriz’s family shared joy and hope for the future, now awaiting the Unified Selection System (SISU) result at the end of the month.
