Emmys 2023: HBO Max is the leader among streaming services for the 2nd consecutive year

With the success of Succession AND The bear (The bear) at the 2023 Emmy Awards, among the streaming services, HBO Max and Hulu, producers of the respective series, also stood out, with Max leading the ranking for the second consecutive year.

It is important to underline that, in Brazil, The bear is assigned to Star+, as Hulu is not available here. Like Star+, Hulu is controlled by Disney.

It’s worth noting that all streams achieved victory thanks to the same production, a very different scenario than we’ve seen in previous years.

To the HBO and HBO Max have amassed a combined 38 awards, doubling their only 19 wins in 2021. To achieve this, they had the highlight of The White Lotus, Tricks and the boom of Euphoria, starring Zendaya. In season, Succession it also won, once again, the award for Best Drama Series.

Already inside Netflix was the one who occupied the throne with the successes of Round 6, Stranger things, The crown, The Queen’s Gambit, Arcane, Love on the spectrum AND Ozarks. Adding up all the awards, streaming has won 44 statuettes: the first nomination for a Netflix series for an Emmy came in 2013, in 2021 streaming has won more awards than any other service or channel.

At the 2022 Emmys this record fell to 26, pushing the streaming pioneer into second place.
