Being nominated for an Emmy, the biggest award in American television, is a great achievement. Being nominated 53 times in 6 seasons is even better! The script seems perfect, but it has a twist. And one of the most tragic. To be nominated so often and not win even once… And go down in history as the most defeated series of all time…
Well, that just happened with “Better Call Saul.”
The “Breaking Bad” spin-off, respected by audiences and critics, ended its run without being nominated for an Emmy Awards.
The acclaimed series concluded in the 75th edition of the event, which took place last Monday (15th).
In total there have been 53 nominations since 2015, when it debuted in February of that year. It competed several times for “Best Drama Series”, Bob Odenkirk also came in with some favoritism for “Best Actor” a few times, Rhea Seehorn, Jonathan Banks and Giancarlo Esposito also picked up nominations, but no one won anything!
In its latest attempt, “Better Call Saul” competed for the “Best Drama Series” awards; “Best Actor” for Bob Odenkirk; “Best Supporting Actress”, for Rhea Seehorn; “Best Screenplay” for the episodes ‘Point and Shoot’ and ‘Saul Gone’; “Best Audio Mixing”; and “Best Edition”.
The spin-off was defeated in all cases, in most cases by “Succession”, the big winner of the evening.
The information comes from Omelette.
It’s a great series, despite the branding
A bit of history
“Better Call Saul” followed the trajectory of Saul Goodman, a “Breaking Bad” character, six years before the lawyer first appeared in the main series.
At the time, he was still known as Jimmy McGill, a small claims lawyer trying to find his place in the world beyond paying the bills.
It’s worth watching.
All seasons are available in the Netflix catalogue.
