Jack Dawkins, played by Thomas Brodie-Sangster (Game of Thrones, Labyrinth), actually left his everyday life as a pickpocket to become a surgeon, a field in which he excelled thanks to his quickness acquired through the practice of thievery. on the way. An encounter with someone important from his past then disrupts his new career and reminds him that it’s very difficult to turn your back on old habits. Thus, he finds himself face to face with Fagin, another essential character in Dickens’ work, who is saved from hanging at the last minute.
In addition to this unexpected encounter with the man he has long considered his father, Jack also meets Lady Belle, the governor’s daughter. The latter, due to social pressure, is forced to find a future husband, while she prefers to devote all her free time to studying medicine.
If at first glance, it seems that two young people will not get along, a common passion for surgery quickly connects them. Especially when Lady Belle asks to be trained by Jack to become the first female surgeon.
